In 2013, the South African Provincial Government of Kwazulu Natal (KZN) requested the assistance of Locus Economica to advise on the new Dube Trade Port (DTP).

The DTP is a special economic zone (SEZ) located 30km north of Durban, along South Africa's eastern seaboard. The 2,940 hectare project is considered one of South Africa's top 10 investment opportunities and will be the only facility in Africa combining an international airport, dedicated cargo terminal, warehousing, office, retail, hotels, and agriculture.

We helped advise the provincial government on the process for designating the site as an SEZ.
